Cat Updates
Ernest is hanging in there, eating and active on the interferon and PI. He goes back in next Wednesday for blood work to see how his system is doing. We took him in to re-do his blood work last week and were pleased. It does show the disease is progressing but very slowly. He is eating, has regained a bit of weight. The medicines are helping. The polyprenyl Immunostimulant is not super cheap but is effective. We will test again next week. We just have to cross our fingers now that the FIP stays in the dry form.
Ernest
Autumn
Autumn went back to Raleigh to see the oncologist and sadly all tests show her cancer is back. We are heartbroken! She went through almost a years worth of radiation and chemo with high hopes for a cure. Sadly that is not going to be. The cancer has spread. We are giving her steroids and interferon to try to hold the cancer at bay for as long as possible. The vet thinks that she has months at best. If we tried another round of chemo she might buy an additional 6 months. We have elected not to put her through that again. She hates being in the care, being poked with needs etc. We want her last months to be full of peace and love. She is still eating and playing. She will let us know when it is time to let her go.
Sweet Casey had started losing weight despite having a healthy appetite. We took her to our vet for a full work up. Her blood work was concerning enough that we asked for an immediate referral to take her to the vets in Raleigh. $4100 later we still do not have a 100% answer. She has a large mass showing up on her chest x-rays. The biopsy of them show that it is some kind of bacterial infection. We are now having to wait for them to grow the samples and see what is effective against it. Th vets also did say that what they are seeing could actually be a mass behind a bacterial infection. We have her home with a feeding tube while we wait to see what antibiotics we need to treat her. She is going back to Raleigh in 2 weeks to see how things are progressing. Cookie
Cookie had a much desperate needed dental by our local vet. She is going back to the dental vet for a consult Monday and have another dental scheduled. My local vet does not have dental X-rays, I want to make sure no roots were left behind or any problems left in her mouth that could not be seen with out x-rays. She behaves like she feels much better already.
Toby
Toby has been renamed Tabitha, because he was actually a she. (I will admit that I did not get personal with her private parts and her hair was hiding things) She has been spayed, her eyes taken care of, has started eating better, is obviously feeling better.
