Meet Ginny
Ginny is a sweet old broad, approx. 15 years old whose family dropped her off at the pound in Pennsylvania.  The shelter had tried to find a home for her. We had listed her on Facebook and still no one would give her a home.   Ginny has severe hypertension.  We have her on medication now to handle that.  I suspect that may have caused her blindness.  The sad thing is I told the shelter when I saw her picture that she needed to be treated for hypertension.  They do not provide medical care like that.  She also has serious kidney disease. She is a nice old lady who is adjusting.  You may watch her live on Friday’s on Ustream
Meet Jewell
Jewell is another sweet old lady who came to us from the same shelter that Ginny came from. She had been turned into animal control 2 years ago and adopted.  This new owner dropped her back off at animal control no longer wanting her. She also is hypertensive and has kidney disease.  She is not fond of other cats but is settling down.  You may watch her live 24 hours a day on her MeShare Camera

Why You Should Spay/Neuter your Pets Of of the most important things you can do for your pets is getting them fixed. That means sterilizing them to prevent them from having or making babies. There are many health benefits of spaying and neutering. Spayed animals no longer feel the need to roam to look for a mate. We encourage cats to remain inside but it may help them from running the door and have less chance of being involved in traumatic accidents such as being hit by a car. They will have a much lower chance of contracting contagious diseases and get into fewer fights. In males, neutering decreases the chances of developing prostatic disease and hernias, and eliminates the chanced of developing testicular cancer. It reduces problems with territorial and sexual aggression, inappropriate urination (spraying) and other undesirable  male behaviors. In females spaying decreases the incidence of breast cancer (the rate goes down to almost zero if the spaying is done before the first heat cycle!) It eliminates the chance of developing pyometra,  a serious and potentially fatal infection of the uterus experienced by many mature unspayed animals.  Spaying your female pet eliminates the problem of stray males camping in your yard and decreases her desire to roam and breed.  Females in heat often cry incessantly, show nervous behavior. Prevent a litter - it’s good for the community! Communities spend millions of dollars to control and eliminate unwanted animals.  You are helping to alleviate the dog and cat over population problem. Every year, millions of unwanted dogs and cats are killed at shelters across the county.  You are saving a life! There are many low cost spay/neuter clinics all over the US. HERE is a database for ones connected with Petsmart. BUT if you will Google  the info for your location you will find more. I found thousands of pages of resources.
