Thank you everyone who wrote me with stories and ideas to add to your storm preparedness. I loved the stories of people who had no idea how to use the generator that had been sitting in the garage for years. (Don’t feel bad, that would have  been me if we had a gas generator)  One had a neighbor that only had a few gallons of gas for theirs.  Knowing how much fuel your generator uses and have enough fuel on hand is important. Again, don’t feel bad, I had no clue how long we could last on our propane.  We are having a larger propane tank brought in and  should be able last for several weeks. A few great tips that you may want to consider before a bad storm. Scan or photograph all your important papers and upload them to drop box or a cloud account.  If you suffer from a flood you will be able to access  copies of your papers from any computer or phone. Photograph every room of your house, inside of your refrig, the outside of your house, close up of expensive items.  Upload them up to drop box or the cloud.  When it is time to fill out insurance papers you will have pictures to help you remember every thing in your home and prove your claim. Practice having no power or surviving on your generator for 24 hours.  You want to be able to tweak your plan while it is fixable. Paper plates and plastic dish ware will save water.
There is still time to get your raffle tickets!
Here are some of the great prizes you may win.  You may see all the prizes  HERE
Lots of great prizes! Climber, wheel, scratchers, beds TV and more!
RIP Nacho
10/15/2016  Nacho suddenly collapsed and was rushed to the vet.  He was dying, suffering and the vet and I agreed that he should be immediately euthanzied.  His necropsy showed heart worm had caused his death. He had only been with us for a few weeks. He was the nicest fellow and will be missed.
I had been asked about doing a video of how to clip the cats nails.  I made you a short one of how we do it with Mack and Gallie. Please do not beat yourself up to much if you can not do your cats nails by yourself.  I promise we have a few that it takes 2 of us to do.  We have 2 that can only be done at the vets office.  I did give you a tip or 2 that might help you be able to do your cat.
How to clip your cats toe nails
If you have some stray cats that you are feeding, here is an example of an inexpensive house you can make. You do not have to put the pot in the hole.  Make sure there are no sharp edges. Take a long lighter and carefully melt the plastic edges.
Winter is coming!
If you want to see other cool shelters that you can make,  visit http://alleycat.org/ShelterGallery    There are many other ideas of affordable shelters.  This would be an awesome program (making feral houses) for a boy or girl scout troop!
It is almost Halloween!
Halloween is absolutely my favorite holiday! I will be posting Halloween jibjabs of the cats all week on  our Facebook page.
Here is one I hope you enjoy. You will see a familiar face of a kitty who has since passed away.  We hope you enjoy it.
