Meet Manxi

Some symptoms may be: Sudden blindness, bleeding from the nose, seizures, circling, disorientation, dilated pupils, detached retinas, hemorrhage of the eye. If your cat goes blind over night RUSH to the vet and insist they check your cats blood pressure. If caught quick enough and treated, your cat may regain their sight. When you take your cat to the vet for their check up, insist they check your cats blood pressure (The majority of vets do not check blood pressure, many do not even have the equipment to do it) Treatment is usually taking a pill twice a day for the rest of the cats life. 2015 Operation Big Fix

We are committed to spay/neutering 1500 cats in 2015. In Nov. 2014 we started this program and spayed/ neutered 142 homeless cats preventing hundreds of innocent babies being born. With your help this year, we can help more cats. Cats entering traditional animal control facilities have only 3 possible outcomes: being adopted, returned to an owner or killed. Homeless cats have no owners to claim them. Feral cats are unsocialized to humans and have no owners to claim them. The kill rate for feral cats in animal control facilities rises to virtually 100% A female cat during her breeding years may give birth to as many as 100 babies or more! The kind act of spaying her would have a great impact on her life and the over all life of the cat population. We are working with 3 groups to help make this possible and improve the lives of cats. We hope you will help! Please help us make this possible with your donation. A $50 donation will provide spay/neuter and a rabies shot to an innocent homeless cat. Your donation will help another innocent kitten from being born to a possible short life of cold, hunger and danger.

Meet Manxi

Manxi (named Manxi because she is a Manx cat breed) came to us by way of the Dallas Texas Animal Control. (A county animal control facility and a kill shelter.) Lucky for Manxi some volunteers for the shelter worked hard to find a place for her to go and raised the money to fly her to us. Manxi is blind because of hypertension. As soon as she arrived we recognized it and she was taken to the vet the next day. She is on medication to control it. The high blood pressure caused her retinas to detach and became blind. Hypertension in animals affect many of the same body systems that humans have affected including heart, kidneys, eyes and the nervous system. The cause of primary hypertension in cats is not known. Studies have found that 65% of cats with chronic renal failure and 87% of cats with hyperthyroidism have hypertension.
