Letter to you from the director: Hi all, for you that do not know me, I am Alana, the chief pooper scooper and head cat :) And as you have seen in our newsletters I have a warped sense of humor occasionally. I am also known for ding crazy things for the cats such as shaving my head and jumping off of a high platform onto an air bag. In January we laid out what our goals for 2015. I wanted to share a status report with you. ** Continue helping blind, FIV+ & FELV+ cats CHECK! We have taken in many new cats as space has come available. We have cross- posted more than 150 cats on social media and have been told that approx 80% of them have found homes or rescues. Our cross posts have contributed to their success. ** Provide spay/neuter services for 1500 cats. IN PROGRESS - As of 6/30 we have provided care for 692 cats. We are almost 1/2 way there. ** Provide O2 masks to our local fire stations to help save lives. IN PROGRESS - That is our newest fund raiser. We want to deliver them in September in time for our 10th Birthday! ** Begin fund raising to build another building to provide care for more blind & leukemia positive cats. IN PROGRESS - We have raised approx 28% of what we need. Our 5 year goal includes by 2020 starting a low cost spay neuter clinic. I was taught as a child that is our job to leave this world better than it was when we came in. With your help we can help the lives of many helpless animals. Your support is critical. Please consider a generous gift today if you can. Our fund raisers are below.

Cat Updates
Snicker is still on antibiotics. They feel he still has not cleared the pneumonia. More x-rays in a month. He is eating well and does not act like he has any distress.
I spent a lot of time in Raleigh last week and this week with the cats.
Sasha’s time is coming to the end with us. Her abdomen is swelling. Her respiratory rate is increased. She is still eating a lot! I will let her tell me when it is time. I expect it to be in the next few days.
Autumn is doing well.
Morris needs his eyes re-done. He has developed 2 holes in the stitched area. The ophthalmolgist feels there was occular tissue left behind. (by our former vet not our current vet) so he is going to in for surgery late August.
Wifi is doing well. He is eating 2 large cans of food a day on his own. He is going to be neutered next week and if continues doing well, will be joining the Ustream Wednesday room. He will have x-rays ect again early October and the wire in his jaw removed if all has healed. The Raleigh vets were pleased with his progress.
Casey had a thorascopic assisted right caudal lung lobectomy. Her bill was $4860. She is home, doing ok. NOT happy at all having to be in a cage (She is not allowed to be with the other cats for 2 weeks) and NOT happy at all with the soft cone of shame (to keep her from messing with her stitches.
Knowing CPR for humans and your pet is very important. Here is a diagram I hope you can print it off

A late update, Boots has been having some health issues. He has had x-rays, blood work and an ultra sound, none of them giving us a clue other than the ultra sound showing some signs on Irritable Bowel Disease. The vet suggested a new blood test that is able to tell you if you are dealing with inflammation or cancer. I have done some reading on the test and it appears to be pretty accurate. Boots is very positive for cancer. We are going to examine our options.
