Kitty loves to do crafting and gardening in her spare time. We are lucky to have her, she retired from running another shelter and did not want to work full time and be in management. Calendars are coming!
This years theme is the summer Olympics. It is a mixture or regular pictures and Robin’s whimsical imagination with photo-shop. See the cats doing gymnastics, synchronized swimming and more! I am crossing my fingers that they will be here when I get home late next week. You will be the first to know!
Christmas ornaments will be available this year at the same time as the calendars! They are a dated collectible, this year featuring Snicker! If you are a sponsor or a monthly donor (sustainer) we will be sending you one as a Christmas gift of thanks for all you do for the cats!.
A huge thank you to all of our generous ebay sellers and buyers who share so generously with the cats! We hope, as you start your Christmas shopping, you will check out all the auctions being shared. Lots of wonderful items are available! CLICK HERE!
MEET ABBY
I get asked often who is our oldest cat.
Abby, to the
best of our knowledge 17 years old. We were notified by one of the local animal control facilities that she had been surrendered by her owner. In NC an owner surrender can be euthanized immediately. The pound was full and she was very lucky that they had heard of us and were willing to make a phone call to try to help her. According to her paper work filled out by the owners, she was 14 years old, and they were not allowed to have cats where the lived. When she arrived she had a hole where 1 eye was supposed to be and the existing eye was a hard glaucoma eye. We had here eyes taken care of and was given a much needed dental. She was also devastated at losing her only home. People do not get it! If YOU lost your home, your family, everything and everyone that you knew you would crawl into a hole some where. But you would be able to understand the WHY, the cats do not understand why their family and whole world disappeared. She went into a deep depression. We had a feeding tube placed to give her a chance to realize that her new reality was going to work out.
Picture of her after eye surgery. The video is of her finally starting to eat!
Abby LOVES catnip. Goes crazy for it. Here is a cute video of her with a catnip toy.
You may watch her live on http://ustream.tv/blindcatrescue & ROKU on Tuesday’s.
THANK YOU to every one that helped with the fund raiser for the heat detector and quick release for the sheriff’s department! Your kindness will help keep Officer Drakco safer while his human Officer Collins is doing his job. The quick release will help keep Officer Collins safer because he can immediately release Drakco if he needs to.
Your generosity helps two police officers. I am so proud of us being able to do this project!
Officer Drakco giving me kisses for us helping him!
