Cat Updates
Casey is improving, she has regained almost a pound. She goes
back for X-rays and blood work in 3 weeks.
Wendy was back at the vet again this week. She is losing
weight again, she is eating and does not behave as she
is in any pain. She is active. Blood work is not great but not
awful. X-rays are not giving us a clear picture of anything going
on inside She is very frail.
If you follow us on Facebook you may have seen the post about
Noah passing away. We were stunned! He had been to the
vet in April for his annual check up. Blood work/UA was
completely normal. Xrays may have shown the lung cancer.
We will now automatically do chest x-rays for the FELV
cats when we do their check ups. Cats will compensate
for as long as they can and then they go down hill
quickly. He went into respiratory distress, the x-rays
clearly showed us why and the decision was made to
return him to his maker. Noah was a sweet shy fellow
who will be missed.
Ernest (FIP) is hanging in there, eating, for the most
part holding his weight. We will go back to the
vet in a few weeks for new blood work and x-rays
to see what the FIP is doing.
We weigh the FIV & FELV+ cats every week.
The blind cats are weighed every few weeks.
Nicky’s weight alerted us that he was having a problem.
He has lost 2 pounds in a month, even though we do
see him eating. He is active and acting normal. Off to
the vet we go. Blood work is not encouraging at all.
High protein, high globulin, low albumin ... those are
never things you want to see on blood work. They
typically mean FIP or cancer or something else ugly.
X-rays show things concerning. We sent out blood for
another test that will help us rule out FIP. He is having
a ultrasound on Tuesday, The Radiologist at state hopefully
will be able to tell us what we are seeing in the x-rays.
Right now we are starting him on the same medicines
that Ernest is on for FIP. It will not hurt him regardless
of what is going on. Once we have more information
we will make decisions on what we are going to do.
Autumn (Cancer) is hanging in there. Eating, active, still losing
weight but very slowly.

Introducing Journey
Sweet Journey was found as a stray in Memphis,
Tennessee. The people that found her thought
she was blind and deaf. Why? I have no clue.
Nothing wrong with either. She does not like
to use a litter box to have a bowel movement.
I suspect that is why she was living on the
streets.
She is a super sweet friendly little girl. You
will find her often sleeping curled up with the
other cats. She is also our only double
positive. She is both FIV+ & FELV+
Journey is one of our original 12 FELV cats.
She and Liza are the only ones still alive.

FELV+ cats are killed so often by rescues, shelters and vet’s
offices because there are just not enough reputable
rescues to help them. We are full and can not accept
any more FELV+ cats at this time.
We are raising money to help build another building
to help same more lives of cats unfairly euthanized
because they test positive for a virus. The new
building will include our own lab for running blood
work, and exam room, hiring a part time vet to come in
to examine the cats (we will still go to the vets office with
emergencies) and a full time vet tech to help provide
quality care for the cats.
