Cat Updates
Casey is hanging in there. She is eating on her own and active. She will go back for blood and x-rays in 2 weeks to see if the mass is still shrinking and blood work improving. She is on antibiotics, & vitamins.
Wendy is hanging in there. Still tiny and frail but eating on her own and active. We have her on vitamins and interferon
Autumn’s cancer has returned. She is eating, active and does not appear to be in any discomfort. She is taking Interferon.
Nicky has us in a quandary. We took him to the vet because he had lost a lot of weight. His blood works screams FIP at us. His X-rays are suspect. His ultrasound results have lots of info but the bottom line conclusions read “ Liver, spleen, lymph nodes, pancreas, duodenum, probable FIP, alternatively lymphoma, mast cell neoplasia. EXCEPT we had him have a CoronaVirus blood test. He is NEGATIVE. FIP is caused by a mutation to the Coronavirus which he does not have so how can this be FIP? Although the blood test says it is still possible to be FIP. The interesting thing about all of that is everything is so similar to Casey. Casey had a needle biopsy, We have NOT done that with Nicky YET. Casey & Nicky are room mates. Casey’s mass/bad blood work etc was a very strange bacteria in her lungs. She is on antibiotics, eating on her own and improving. Nicky is eating well on his own. We started him on the PI (FIP medicine) as soon as we saw the blood work. We also started him on PI, interferon and the same antibiotic that Casey is on. He is eating, active, his weight is fluctuating. He gains some and then losing some. I do not think he has FIP, I truly question that it is cancer, I think he has the same thing he has what ever Casey has. We have also examined each cat in the room with them, no one else has lost any weight and all of the room mates are rotating into the vet the next few weeks for full check ups, blood etc. We are going to wait to do the needle biopsy, going to continue on the antibiotic and interferon and redo blood work in a few weeks when we redo Casey’s and see where we stand.
Tabitha’s eye is draining, it is obvious that the vet missed some ocular tissue. This is the 3rd cat with this problem, we will now just automatically take them to Raleigh for eye surgery. She is going on 6/9 for a pre-surgery appointment to get it done correctly.
Ray is going to Raleigh and having his eyes fixed on 6/9.
More Cat Updates
Sterling had his dental done, he also is a room mate of Casey & Nicky. All his blood work and weight are completely normal.
Sadly Ernest has lost 1 pound in 2 weeks, today (5/29) was labored breathing, not showing any interest in doing anything but laying in the sun and also dehydrated. I made the very sad decision that it was time to say goodbye to him. He was a very sweet cat, fought a hard battle and will be missed. He loved sleeping with the other cats. Above he is with Wendy.
Abbey had her dental, she is also a room mate of Casey and Nicky. All her blood work and weight are completely normal.
Marge got her dental and is doing well
Smudge did his dental and is doing well
Holly is hospitalized for a couple days. She is a kidney cat and her BUN is off the charts. She is basically being flushed out. She is doing well considering all things.
Meet Tiffany
Tiffany was found as a stray on the streets of Miami.
She was lucky that a kind person found her and did everything possible to save her. Tiffany also test FELV+ You can see from the picture above she had a rough life, she was thin, her hair thin and she is ear tipped. Wendy is from Miami and ear tipped too, I wonder if they are from the same area?
She looks much better now. She has finally adjusted to the other cats. When she first arrived she fought with all the cats. I guess she was trying to find her place in the pecking order.
A cute video of Tiffany playing with a catnip toy For a street cat, she has adjusted to living in a home with soft beds, plenty of food and toys. Thank you so much for your support that makes that possible!
Please consider helping us with our Shelter Building Fund
The new building will give us the ability to help more FELV+ and blind cats http://blindcatrescue.org/fundraiser.htm?/savelives
The cats say Thank you so much for the gifts from our Amazon wish list!
Amazon Never gives us your contact info. Often they have no names on the slips or even a slip. Please know that we are very grateful to you for your gift!
